A local facility to offer services for the blind and an Honorable Welcome Home for veterans – these are just two programs that received funding from the Community Foundation of North Central Washington’s (CFNCW) Fall 2011 grant cycle. CFNCW’s Regional Impact Grants provide opportunities for our local nonprofits further their goals in serving needs and building strong communities. A total of $72,816 in grants was distributed to the following:
Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation $5,000 Five Badges for Baseball youth clinics scheduled for August 2012
Cascade School District $5,000 Bridge funding to help continue the After School Program for 2011-2012 until permanent funding can be attained
Cascadia Conservation District $3,500 Expansion of “Native Planting 101” workshop
Chelan Valley Independent School $2,000 School Musical
Community Farm Connection $3,500 Community outreach through the On the Farmhouse Table quarterly newsletter and weekly flyers, blog, and website
Compassionate Friends $2,500 Lending library, booklets on grief, facilitator and leadership workshops for volunteers
Forest Ridge Wildfire Coalition $1,600 Fire prevention educational outreach and wood chipper rental
Habitat for Humanity-Greater Wenatchee $5,000 Development costs for a 6-lot subdivision
Icicle Arts $3,000 Free in-school Professional Artist Outreach Program benefiting students in Cascade and Cashmere school districts
Lake Chelan Lutheran Church $2,500 Honorable Welcome Home for veteran and family members, includes a range of healing and welcoming activities
Lilac Services for the Blind $5,000 Equipment, materials and supplies towards startup of a satellite office in Wenatchee providing services and support for the blind
Literacy Council $2,270 Website upgrade for increased outreach
Manger Mall $3,000 Toys and gifts for parents experiencing financial struggles during the holidays
Mountain Sprouts Children’s Community $2,000 Nature-focused playground equipment
Okanogan County Animal Foster Care Association $3,500 Building repairs, including mopboards, rusted doors, leaking skylights
Omak School District $2,710 Renewal costs for the online reading program
Orchard Middle School $3,736 Band instruments for loaning to low income students interested in school music programs
Oroville Senior Citizens $5,000 Replacing commercial range hood
Upper Valley Cooperative Preschool $2,000 Technology, curriculum, classroom and outdoor equipment to improve the physical classroom learning experience
Westside High School $5,000 Experienced reading tutors to work with students and train volunteers for a pilot reading tutorial program
YMCA $5,000 Bridge funding for staffing Open Door Membership Program
CFNCW offers opportunities for grant funding through the Regional Impact Grants twice a year in spring and fall. These grants are used for general programs, special projects, startup funding, and small equipment needs to eligible nonprofit organizations in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.
