Marlene & Henry Bauer Scholarship

Amount: $4,000 (paid over 4 years)

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of a Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan county high school (or a nontraditional student).
  2. Will attend a community college as a full-time student.
  3. Be pursuing a career in business, marketing, management, accounting or other business related field.
  4. Have a 2.5 GPA or above.
  5. Demonstrates financial need

Continuation: Continuing as a full-time student in a business related major and maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA are required to keep the award in place the following year.

Lee Bofto Honorary Scholarship

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of Wenatchee High School.
  2. Must have participated in athletics or served the WHS athletic department in some way (address the involvement in your personal statement).
  3. Have at least a 2.5 GPA.
  4. Passed the WASL or equivalent exam.
  5. Demonstrates financial need.

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of a Chelan or Douglas County High School or a current Wenatchee Valley College student
  2. Plans to enroll or is enrolled in the nursing program at Wenatchee Valley College.
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  4. Demonstrates proven leadership ability by participation in community service and extracurricular activities
  5. Demonstrates significant financial need
  6. Demonstrates significant chance of success.

Chelan County Fire District #1 Volunteer Association Scholarship

No. of Awards: Two.  One to the Chelan County Fire Department and one to the Chelan Douglas Firefighters Association

  1. Be a member or retired member in good standing of the Association for at least one year OR.
  2. Be a spouse, child or grandchild of a member.

Eligibility (Running Start students):

  1. Will have completed the minimum credit hours to be considered a third year student at Washington State University (be at least a Junior by the fall of 2012)
  2. Will attend WSU as a full-time student majoring in studies that directly relate to agriculture issues (may include majors outside the College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resource Science as long as your future work will directly impact the broad community of agriculture).
  3. Demonstrates potential to impact agricultural advancements as evidenced by professor recommendations.
  4. Demonstrates commitment to their studies as documented by GPA, classroom performance and any direct work experience in an agriculture related industry.
  5. Demonstrates financial need.
  6. Preference will be given to qualified applicants from North Central Washington defined by Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Ferry and Grant counties.

Mission Scholarship - Due April 1

Amount: $1,000 travel award (not to be used for education)

Eligibility:

  1. Be a junior or senior of a Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan county high school.
  2. Plan to travel to Latin America to provide community service through a qualified church or 501(c)(3) public charity. (Important:  Though it isn't necessary to have a specific plan in place, be sure to address your desire / dream / timeframe for a mission trip in your personal statement).
  3. Will complete the service within two years of award date (before the end of summer 2014).

  4. Must demonstrate a commitment to extracurricular activities such as cross country, leadership and/or knowledge bowl

Sybil Shearer Nursing Scholarship - Due June 1

Amount: Determined by committee (will distribute $5,000)

Eligibility:

  1. A resident within the Lake Chelan or Manson School Districts.
  2. A graduating high school senior or college student either accepted to or currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited nursing program in the USA.
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA in the year prior to submitting an application.
  4. Based primarily on goals in the field of nursing as described in the application essay, as well as evidence of interest in a nursing career demonstrated by volunteerism or previous employment; secondarily based on financial need.
  5. Important note:  In your personal statement, be sure to address your future goals in the field of nursing
  6. One letter of recommendation must be from a school official and one from a nonfamily member

Renewal: Renewable for up to 3 years or the completion of the program whichever is shorter.  Future years are contingent on reapplication and remaining a full-time nursing student in good academic standing.

  1. Graduating senior of Eastmont High School
  2. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  3. Must be pursuing further education in a service related field such as teaching, medical, social work, etc.
  4. Important: In addition to the personal statement, applicant must submit an essay of not more the 300 words on the subject What difference can one person with a caring heart make?

Silver Star Scholarship

Amount: Determined by committee (will distribute $1,500)

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of Chelan and Manson High Schools.
  2. Must be a resident of Washington State for at least one year prior to graduation.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  4. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
  5. Important:  Three Letters of Recommendation are required:  one from a school official and two from community leaders. Applications are eliminated if the letters of recommendations differ from this requirement.

Bob and Valerie Valaas Scholarship

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of Wenatchee or Westside High School.
  2. Must plan to enter the Health Science program at Wenatchee Valley College.
  3. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
  4. Must demonstrate financial need and concern for others.

National Welch's Fred Killian Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of a Washington State high school.
  2. Parent or guardian must be a member of the National Grape Cooperative OR parent or guardian is an employee of Welch's.
  3. GPA of 2.5.
  4. Is active in community leadership.
  5. Is seeking further education in an accredited educational program in the United States

Wenatchee Bowling Association Scholarship

Amount: Determined by committee (will distribute $1,525)

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior or previous recipient in their first year of college.
  2. Must be accepted to the school of their choice.
  3. Graduating seniors on the Wenatchee or Eastmont High School bowling teams may apply; however, priority will be given to an applicant who has current ,active participation  in the Wenatchee Valley USBC youth bowling program including bowling in a sanctioned league.
  4. Must demonstrate leadership abilities, bowling achievements, scholastic achievements and citizenship.

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of Wenatchee High School.
  2. Primarily based on a demonstration of significant financial need.
  3. Must show scholastic ability demonstrated by academic performance and formal test results.
  4. Must include SAT scores.
  5. Ideal candidate is a student capable of completing a college or technical program who might not be financially able to do so without the help of the Wenatchee High School Alumni Foundation.

WHS Alumni, Class of 1952 - Jane Lovejoy Memorial Leadership Scholarship

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of Wenatchee High School.
  2. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  3. Must demonstrate financial need.
  4. Must demonstrate leadership qualities. Important: Personal statement must address leadership skills.
  5. Important: Must include three Letters of Recommendation.  Applications are eliminated if recommendations differ from this requirement.

Wenatchee Kiwanis Scholarship

No. of Awards: Two

Amount: Determined by committee (minimum of $1,500 each)

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of a Chelan or Douglas county high school.
  2. Demonstrate a high degree of service to others (community, church, family, etc.)
  3. Show academic merit.  GPA must be at least 2.5 but ideal candidate would have a 3.5 or better.
  4. Financial need is considered but not above service to others and academic merit.
  5. Preference is given to Key Club members or students who have a family member who is/has been in Kiwanis.
  6. Important:  Use your personal statement to address how Key Club or community service has affected your life.

Wenatchee Rotary Foundation Scholarship

Amount: Determined by committee

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior of a high school within the Wenatchee or Eastmont School Districts (includes homeschoolers) or a Wenatchee Valley College student who graduated from a school within those school districts.
  2. Be seeking further education as a full-time student.
  3. Have a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout high school or at Wenatchee Valley College.
  4. Based on need, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership and academic performance.
  5. Particular attention is paid to commitment of service to others including school, community, church and family.

Renewal: Once awarded, scholarship is renewed annually with reapplication and demonstrated success in student's field of study.

Grace Ekman Whitley Scholarship

Eligibility:

  1. Graduating senior from Leavenworth, Manson, Tonasket and Wenatchee High Schools.
  2. Must have a 2.5 - 3.25 GPA.
  3. Successful candidates will be those who, though maybe not having the highest grades, demonstrate perseverance, commitment and a determination to improve their future through education.
  4. Personal statement should focus on student's motivation for academic improvement.
