Scholarships for NCW College Students

Eligibility:

1. Wenatchee Valley College student.
2. Will study nursing at Wenatchee Valley College.
3. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
4. Demonstrates significant chance of success.
5. Demonstrates proven leadership ability by participation in  community service and extracurricular activities.

No. of Awards: Two.  One to the Chelan County Fire Department and one to the Chelan Douglas Firefighters Association

Amount: Determined by committee (Will distribute $1,000)

Eligibility:

1. Be a member or retired member in good standing of the Association for at least one year. OR
2. Be a spouse, child or grandchild of a member.
3. Important:  Relationship to the Fire District must be addressed in your personal statement.
4. Running start students may apply.

Eligibility:

1. Enrolled in the nursing program at Wenatchee Valley College.
2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
3. Demonstrates participation in community activities
4. Demonstrates a strong commitment to the nursing profession and to the community in which they serve.
5. Financial need is considered but not before commitment to nursing and the community.
6. One letter of recommendation should be from a teacher and one from a nonfamily employer or community member.

Renewal: One renewal is possible with continued enrollment in the WVC nursing program.  Must reapply and will compete with new applicants.

1. Graduating senior or nontraditional student from Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan county.
2. Must be a full-time student.
3. Must have a major or minor in music.
4. Must be a passionate and experienced organist or pianist with organists having priority.

Eligibility (open to transfer students, non-traditional students (adults returning to academics) and graduate students):

1. Will have completed the minimum credit hours to be considered a third year student at Washington State University (be at least a Junior by the fall of 2012)
2. Will attend WSU as a full-time student majoring in studies that directly relate to agriculture issues (may include majors outside the College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resource Science as long as your future work will directly impact the broad community of agriculture).
3. Demonstrates potential to impact agricultural advancements as evidenced by professor recommendations.
4. Demonstrates commitment to their studies as documented by GPA, classroom performance and any direct work experience in an agriculture related industry.
5. Demonstrates financial need.
6. Preference will be given to qualified applicants from North Central Washington defined by Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Ferry and Grant counties.

Renewal: Possible.  Must reapply and compete with current applicants.  Scholarship is available for graduate school only if applicant received the scholarship as an undergraduate.

Eligibility:

1. Full-time Wenatchee Valley College student (also offered to graduating high school seniors in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties.
2. Applicant or a legal family member must be of Italian heritage descent and that heritage must be addressed in the personal statement.
3. Based on financial need.
4. Important Note: Recommendations must be from a teacher and civic leader or business person.

Amount: $1,500 each

Eligibility:

1. Current or former female student at Wenatchee Valley College.
2. Must have completed a minimum of 60 credits at Wenatchee Valley College (completion of an AA degree is not required).
3. Must be accepted at a 4-year college in Washington state with plans to pursue a bachelor's degree.
4. Successful candidate(s) will be attending the 4-year school in the fall of 2012.

Amount: Determined by committee (will distribute $5,000)

Eligibility:

1. A resident within the Lake Chelan or Manson School Districts.
2. A graduating high school senior or college student either accepted to or currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited nursing program in the USA.
3. Minimum 3.0 GPA in the year prior to submitting an application.
4. Based primarily on goals in the field of nursing as described in the application essay, as well as evidence of interest in a nursing career demonstrated by volunteerism or previous employment; secondarily based on financial need.
5. Important note:  Be sure to address your future goals in the field of nursing in your personal statement.
6. One letter of recommendation must be from a school official and one from a nonfamily member.

Renewal: Renewable for up to 3 years or the completion of the program whichever is shorter.  Future years are contingent on remaining a full-time nursing student in good academic standing.

Eligibility:

1. A Wenatchee Valley College student or a graduating senior of Eastmont, Wenatchee or Westside High School.
2. Must be seeking further education as a full-time student.
3. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at Wenatchee Valley College or throughout high school.
4. Based on need, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership and academic performance.
5. Particular attention is paid to commitment of service to others including school, community church and family.

Continuation: Once awarded, scholarship is renewed annually with reapplication and demonstrated success in student's field of  study.
