Investment Strategy

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington’s investment strategy is designed to achieve superior returns while moderating risk, with the goal of enabling our donors to achieve both their philanthropic and financial objectives. An investment committee made up of trustees of the Community Foundation guides the Foundation’s investment strategies.

To meet the philanthropic objectives of donor funds, investments are made in professionally managed investment pools; a balanced fund or a money market pool. Within the balanced fund pool, the Community Foundation hires managers who specialize in particular asset classes to ensure that there is superior performance and adequate diversification. The goal is to benefit from a range of expertise from managers in a way that would be impractical and cost prohibitive for individuals.

Donors receive statements quarterly that detail gifts made to the fund(s) they have established at the Foundation, grants disbursed to nonprofit groups, investment performance and earnings, fund balance and fees.
