Deadline: February 15, 2010 (No late or incomplete applications will be considered)
Read the qualifications carefully. The Community Foundation of North Central Washington manages scholarships with varying eligibility requirements. Some are available only to graduating seniors of high schools in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties and some are available only the college students. Award size and number of recipients is determined by the selection committee unless otherwise indicated.
Apply for all the scholarships for which you qualify; however, separate applications with complete attachments are required for each one. Using the fill-in form on this website makes it easy to apply for multiple scholarships. For each scholarship for which you are applying,
- Complete the application once.
- Save the application to your personal computer using the name of the first scholarship.
- Print the completed application.
- Change the scholarship name on each page (and maybe some of the Personal Statement to address each scholarship's focus); re-save it using the new scholarship name; print.
- Repeat for each scholarship for which you apply.
- Attach the required documents
- Mail (use regular mail only, not registered, certified or e-mail) to:
Community Foundation of NCW
P.O. Box 3332
Wenatchee, WA 98807
Full scholarship brochures and applications are also available at all high school financial aid offices/career centers/counselors in Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan Counties or other locations as indicated in the scholarship description.
To be complete, EACH application packet must include:
- General Information (Page 1). Please be sure the name of the scholarship is included.
- Statement of Financial Need (Page 2) with the Estimated Federal Student Aid Eligibility page attached. This is required for all scholarships unless specifically stated in the scholarship criteria. Complete the following steps to answer Question #2:
- Go to www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov. Select "Use the fafsa4caster"
- Answer the questions about your family's financial status and about your college plans. You should be able to complete the questions in no more than 30 minutes.
- Once you've entered the information, fafsa4caster will calculate an Estimated Family Contribution. The calculation is displayed on the Estimated Federal Student Aid Eligibility page.
- Print the Estimated Federal Student Aid Eligibility page. Write your name on it and include that page with the application.
- Enter the Estimated Family Contribution amount on Question #2. Complete the rest of the Statement of Financial Need.
- List of Activities, Honors and Community Involvement (Page 3). We developed this form of presentation to make it easier for the Selection Committees who review so many applications. All applicants are required to use only this format.
- Personal Statement (Page 4). Here's your opportunity to really stand out. Tell us about who you are and what your goals are for the future. (Have you overcome obstacles or adversities? Have you experienced something amazing that has inspired you and helped shape your life? What are your career goals? Who or what inspired you to select your field of study? etc.). Create the portrait of a winner. It should be no more than 2 double-spaced pages.
- Transcript. If you have taken the SAT be sure the scores are included.
- Letters of Recommendation. Typically 2 letters are required. Some scholarships ask for 3 letters or require the letters be from specific people. Special requirements are noted in the scholarship criteria. Please follow the instructions carefully - the Selection Committee must follow the donor's instructions and applications that don't have the proper Letters of Recommendation cannot be considered.
- Signed Certification and Release Form (Page 6.)
Please include all and only what is asked for. Please don't use covers, stapes, double-sided copies or include pictures or newspaper articles.
