Fire Relief Fund Established for Victims of Chelan Valley Wildfires

Chelan Valley Fire Relief Fund

The Community Foundation of NCW has established the Chelan Valley Fire Relief Fund to help support relief and recovery to those affected by the wildfires across the Chelan Valley.

“We are concerned about our friends, families and businesses in the Chelan Valley” said Jennifer Dolge, the foundation’s Director of Communications. “Unfortunately, we’ve become experienced with establishing and managing fire relief funds – they provide an effective giving vehicle for people who want to help and 100% of the donations go to support the victims. We want the Chelan community to know the people of North Central Washington care about them and are here to help.”

The Community Foundation of NCW now manages multiple fire relief funds that are used to help fire victims through transition and provide financial assistance and access to resources for long term recovery.

Those seeking immediate needs such as food and housing or donation of items should contact the Red Cross who have set up shelters in Entiat and East Wenatchee. For evacuation information, residents and concerned citizens can contact Chelan Emergency Management at 509-667-6863. The Wenatchee World is also providing regular updates on the fire’s status.

My name is Paul Smythe from Chelan. Friday, August 15th my home and garage was burned to the ground by the Reach fire on the Butte. My son and I lost almost everything we owned. I also have two animals (dog and cat) who I need to take care of. This is a very hard time for us.

I’m a medic out at Fairchild AFB and will be starting a fire relief fundraiser on base collecting cash donations, non perishable foods, pet food, hygiene products, clothing and bedding. That’s just what I’ve gathered online as the major necessities. Is there anything else in high demand? I have a trailer and will be able to transport all the donations but there are so many different places to drop off donations that are only excepting certain items, is there any certain place that will except all the donations to avoid having to separate everything and making multiple stops. Thank you!

      Hi Tara,
Thanks you for helping those in need. The Colville Indian Casino in Okanogan is accepting all types of donations, you can find information on them on our resource page.
      Thank you!

      Hi Michelle,
I’m so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, our foundation only serves Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties in Washington State. I would advise your brother to start the recovery process by contacting your local Red Cross. They should be able to help you!
